Monday's Musing

"Many of the great achievements of the world were accomplished by tired and discouraged men who kept on working." -unknown

I need this today. We're trying to keep our local pool open for the swim team and we're having a difficult time of it! The City is really being dodgy, and not at all upfront with us. Wish us all luck, please!

California Wool & Fiber Festival

Coming this Friday through Sunday in Boonville! And I will be teaching at the Festival Friday afternoon and all day Saturday. I'm excited to go, partly because, I admit, I haven't been to this show before! And it's practically in my backyard. Hopefully, some of you will be going, as well and will drop by to say hello! :D

My Week

Don't forget that my Sneaky Sale is still on!!!

I have to say, I think I'm way better at micro-blogging on Twitter than I am at blogging here, so here's a micro round-up of last week.

1. Oh, hai! Mercury is retrograde.
2. "Fair" is something that happens once a year in the county.
3. Tires are 4 times more expensive than they were, but I'm still making the same amount of money. :sigh:
4. "Life isn't about waiting for the storm to pass, it's about learning to sing in the rain." I knew there was a reason I loved that movie.
5. Bunnies don't like green bell pepper or zucchini.
6. Bunnies love cilantro.
7. There are some very very interesting people living in my area.
8. Dreaming that a secret project is felted and full of moth holes is almost as scary as a "being chased by monsters" dream.
9. Bike riding makes everything better.
10. So do bunny kisses and little kid hugs.
11. My younger son can make me laugh so hard my stomach hurts.
12. That was an especially good thing this week.
13. Some people make up their minds without looking at the facts, and then get annoyed that they are being bothered with said facts.
14. I will never understand this.
15. There are things you just can't push. You just do your part and then let them happen when they will.
16. The control freak side of me can't abide that.
17. My older son is an even bigger control freak than I am.
18. I am very very contrary.
19. I get my feelings hurt and feel rejected even though I know I shouldn't take most things personally.
20. Curried elk is tasty.

Sneaky sneaky

Well, I know I am totally late getting up a weekly special and give-away for last week, but I hope you will forgive me! Instead, I am introducing a new pin and...a Designs by Romi Sneaky Sale lasting through next Monday!!!

I am SO loving this new pin.

It's loosely based on a penannular style, but locks into place a little differently. First you gather up material:

then the stick portion goes over the top of the pin portion:

and down around the swirl to lock into place.

Cool, eh?! :) It's available here in nickel, brushed nickel, copper and sterling silver!

And to celebrate, I'm having a Sneaky Sale over at Designs by Romi: 15% off a $15 or greater purchase (patterns excepted) through Monday, September 14th! Enter CELTIC at checkout!

And the give-away?
Retweet (mentioning this blog post and @RomiDesigns), blog about or plurk about this sale with appropriate link to my post here, and be entered to win a nickel or copper pin as shown above! I will choose a winner on Tuesday, September 15th. However many times you mention this sale (and tell me about it), that is the number of entries you will have in the drawing! Receive double the entries for each pin you buy. (Does that make sense?) Buy a pin? Receive two entries! Buy two pins? Receive four entries! Good luck to you! :)

I'm late with my weekly special and contest/give-away. But I came up with a super cool new pin design. So please bear with me while I get it photographed and up? There might even be a Sneaky Sale. Just sayin.

This n that

Remember this project? Well, it's finished and blocked! Turned out great, although I'm afraid I can't show you right now, since it was a stealth project. It's hanging out on my mannequin at the moment, looking nice, but you'll have to wait a couple of months to see it. Here's hoping you'll think it was worth the wait! I think you'll like it. :)

I'm still in the midst of stealth knitting, but I can show you this for another secret project....

This is from A Verb for Keeping Warm.

It's baby camel and silk in colorway Glenda.

And it is sooooooooo dreamy.

This is my very favorite part of my job. I love spinning; it is so relaxing to me. With knitting, I'm very goal oriented and not so much into the process (unless I'm knitting with mohair/silk, my fav), but with spinning it's just pure pleasure and relaxation. :happysigh:

In other news, @catmum won my last give-away, my Toque, Yo! hat pattern! Congrats to you. :) Stay tuned for the next special and give-away tomorrow!!!
