ready for some easter festivities?

Because this was so much fun last year, I am having :drumroll: The Second Annual Romi Easter Egg Hunt!
Here's how it will work....

I have uploaded 16 pictures of dyed eggs into 15 of my pattern pictures on my Ravelry designer page. You can access my pattern collection here. Click through my patterns and find those eggs! Once you have found them, email me at contest@designsbyromi.com with the pattern names where the eggs are hiding. Do not post the answers here! You have until midnight PDT on Monday, April 1.

Ready for the prize list?

One Grand Prize: If you find all 15 patterns with egg pics, you will be entered in a random drawing to win my next subscription shawl eBook plus a shawl pin.
Two Second Prizes: Find at least 11 of the patterns with eggs and you will be entered in a random drawing to win my next subscription shawl eBook.
Three Third Prizes: Find at least 7 of the patterns with eggs and you will be entered in a random drawing to win a free single pattern of your choice.

If you tweet or Facebook or post about my little egg hunt and let me know, I will add another entry for you in your category!

Are you ready? Let the hunt begin!!!

friday eye candy

I have long been a fan of Cephalopod Yarns, and I was super excited to see they had a booth at Stitches West (yes - I'm running a little behind on showing you goodies from Stitches, but bear with me)!

I was super excited to meet the incredibly sweet Sarah, the Cephalopod dye maven extraordinaire, and fondle her yarny goodness. There were so many incredible colors to choose from (I am such a sucker for great color!), but I confined myself to reason and left with three Bugga! lovelies and great plans.

Oh! how I love these colors.

So beautiful in the sun, but unfortunately my camera captured them a little lighter than in real life.

Here they are looking like themselves: Widow Dragonfly, Strawberry Crab and Ghost Moth. Exquisite.

play

Because all work and no play makes Jane a dull girl. And also because I visited my lys over the weekend and became smitten with a skein of Noro sock yarn. I had never knit with Noro before. It strains credibility, but it is, indeed, true.

And there it was.

And there I was.

So it came home with me. And I cast on for an Apostrophe (from Punctuate, my collection of three easy pieces).

The color changes mesmerized me.

I was only going to do one color.

But I couldn't stop.

Just look at those little circles!

In that yarn!

And then I wondered what took me so long to knit with Noro. I am going to savor this play time.

monday's musing, tuesday edition

"Nothing is inevitable until it happens." - A.J.P. Taylor

Love love love this quote.

Trying to get centered and back in the game here. I feel so scattered, and have felt for awhile now. When you feel scattered, what do you do to get it all together again?

post clue-al letdown

Well. I decided to knit my mystery along with the mystery shawlies. What fun! I've actually never KAL'd with everyone because I'm always rushing off to the next thing. But this time I decided to do another version in neutral colors since these particular two yarns have been whispering my name for a long long time. The original mystery is in lovely Floating yarn from A Verb for Keeping Warm: Filigree and Thai Iced Tea.

My second version (because I kept staring at that shawl and thinking how great this combo would look) is in yarn from Sincere Sheep: Agleam in Neblima (grey) and Tenacious in Winter's Night (deep blue-purple).

So now I've gotten the first mystery clue under my belt and it's back to Y3! That would be the "Home is Where the Heart Is" series. :) Are you ready for some teasers on the three color shawl?

I'm loving the way this one looks. Some of you may have seen a few small pics in my twitter feed, but I think you have to back up to appreciate the full idea.

This one is done in Lorna's Laces Solemate, a very nifty yarn that has a lovely gleam and drape to it. And kits will be available from Jimmy Beans Wool (honest! but right now I can't find them)! I love the way the colors seem to shift as I'm working on it.

Now off to clean up the construction dust (more on that later!) and then #1 Son and I are going to see a movie. He actually wants to go somewhere with me! Dude. I'd better not embarrass him.

are you ready?

Cause a mysterious first clue is coming at midnight PDT! Tonight!

Will you join us in the fun? :)

Kristine from A Verb for Keeping Warm dyed up these gorgeous yarns in her luxurious "Floating" base. The golden yellow is Filigree and the lovely orange is Thai Iced Tea.

Decadent!

musing that should have been on monday

...but apparently I didn't publish it! Sigh....

Why not?! Love it. :)

Have a terrific week!

family friday

I can't believe my baby is 10 years old today. He's a little bit man.

And still a large part little boy.

But he's still my Bear.

Where did the time go?

catching up a little

It's been some time since I dropped by, I know. And I am wondering when I will get it through my head that this is a crazy time every year! One of these days it will stick.

There's so much to tell: so much to share. I will start, though, by thanking everyone who came by my booth at Stitches West. Again this year, I shared with A Verb for Keeping Warm, and it's always wonderful to hang out with Kristine, Michelle and Aday (and we won prettiest booth again, thanks to Kristine's genius!). It was "interesting" to do a show with an injury:

and I remember thinking at the time that it was a totally insane idea and wondering what on Earth possessed me. Now that I'm home from Stitches and I've gotten some extra sleep, it seems like it was no big deal. I have a short memory. It's why I have two kids instead of one. ;)

Today I just want to share the pictures of everyone at dinner on Friday evening. People from my Ravelry forum came - from as far as Canada, Maryland, Mississippi, and Florida - to meet in person after talking so long online and forming bonds and friendships. (I'm not naming names because I know some people like privacy!)

The forum moderators (they are the BEST) organized an amazing event, complete with door prizes.

Here's a picture of a group of us with Gothic Tams on, along with pictures of those who love that pattern and the forum, but couldn't be there.

We ate at Pedro's, and - like last year - I had the Molé. Yum!

Friends from across country.

And from out of the country.

Knitters really are special. :)
