Oh, I'm first? Ach!

Sometimes you have to find the happy in the little things. Every day a couple work friends and I walk to the corner for coffee. It's our little ritual we've been doing for a couple of years now and we all very much look forward to it every day. Today, our good news came by email - coffee card sale! We all got 15% off 10 of our favorite drinks, plus a free one, and we continuie our fun little chat sessions as we walk to get them. Just a little thing to celebrate, but really nice with the economy being what it is!!!

I don't need the pattern, but our dog makes me smile. The accepting, adoring unconditional love of a dog is a balm to my soul, and ours happens to be a beautiful black tri-color Aussie who is the prettiest dog we've ever had, on top of sweet. He was under the weather this morning and had me worried, but my heart is light again now that he's feeling fine! (If you want to see pictures to make you smile, just enter "Jackson" in the search window on my blog....)

Last week was the second week of teaching kindergarten in music class. "Troy" was absent. "Junior" stood up and announced, "Troy's absent. He has diarrhea." The next music class, Troy returned. I said, "We missed you Troy." He said, "Yea, I had diarrhea."

Kindergarten kids Crack Me Up and I like to pretend what the world would be like if we all operated with that mindset.

Also if you need something that will really make you smile visit http://yarnhog-yarnhog.blogspot.com She's got some puppies returned under what I consider hysterical circumstances and I've referred to the story and the picture more than once this week to make me smile.

My husband and I are nursing students and today we both passed our enema skills test! YEA! The model that we used for demonstration is named Carlos Santana - if the real Carlos only knew :) He had quite a day in our nursing lab - two enemas back to back. When you are in college passing your skills tests with a thumbs up from the instructor really makes you smile.

There are many things that make me smile whether it be the thought of my grandchildren and how special they are to the cardinals at my feeder when I leave for work in the morning. Sometimes it's the young baby in the cart in front of me at the shopping center.

Today at our studio, my husband spotted a baby squirrel. He's very young, hardly any 'bushy' to his tail at all. He ate a few unsalted peanuts we had, and was actually comfortable enough...or tired enough...to nod off while we took a few pictures. It gave us all a smile, and I'll put pictures up on my blog so you can smile too. Nothing like nature to brighten one's day! www.kvetchingup.blogspot.com

I recently heard the following joke

Cop is driving behind a car that veering all over its lane. He pulls up along side it to check things out and sees a little old lady behind the wheel, knitting. The cop rolls down his window and yells to the lady, "Pull over! Pull over!"
The lady holds up her knitting and says, "No, it's a cardigan!"

________

this joke reminded me of something Elizabeth Zimmerman's son related about his mom. They were out running some errands, when E was stuck in a standoff situation when a fellow driver wouldn't allow her the right of way(which was her's). thus blocking both of them from moving. He kept screaming at her to move. She simply reached over and picked up her knitting and calmly knitted away. He backed up and allowed her to pass... knowing that she was ready to sit there as long as need be!!

I will share my beautiful day with you. The sky was Blue, the sun was warm and the breeze just cool enough. Way good after yesterday's cool and cloudy face.

Something that makes me smile: Baby giggles. I love to hear a baby giggling, it doesn't have to be my baby; just any baby. :D

One of my foster dogs went out on trial to a PERFECT home for her this morning!! This makes me more than smile...it makes me want to jump up and down while laughing out loud and clapping my hands!

Finding the perfect home for Jack Russell Terrier is such a passion for me. All the effort and pulling my hair out and behavior issues that need to be fixed...it's ALL worth it when a great dog goes to a perfect JRT home! I just wish those perfect homes were a bit easier to find!!

My sister's facebook status about taking her daughter Amy out:
She "cannot believe she sat with 500 kids for 45 minutes waiting for Toopy & Binoo only to hear "Amy no like Toopy & Binoo" after they sang their first song. We beat the crowds out of there at least."
I laughed and laughed. The best part was that when she got home Amy told her dad that she had a great time and loved it.

We have two new kitties, and they are new to each other. The younger one, female, has been jumping sideways onto the older one's head every time she sees him. He's a dear, patient guy, but enough is enough. Today, she did not do that. When she walked over to him, he licked her face. That truly made me smile and feel hopeful that they may become true friends.

I really need smiles lately, too. What makes me smile is watching our young cat, Karma, amuse herself with whatever she finds on the floor. She bats things around, picks them up and throws them so she can chase them, or just rolls around with them. It has been a while since we have had a young cat and she is a joy.
