monday's musing

I was feeling kind of whiny today because I caught the kids' creeping crud. When I read this, it made me laugh out loud!

"Life is not fair; get used to it." - Charles J. Sykes (formerly misattributed to Bill Gates)

Still chuckling. And feeling better because of it. :)

Don't forget that there are still spots left in next year's Pins & Lace Club!

Life is not fair, get used to it?
This es easy to say if you have lots of money or if it doesn´t hit you really hard.
You got beaten, robbed, miserable treated, killed? Well, life is not fair, get used to it? No thanks.

Huh. I read it to mean that you shouldn't waste time thinking about how unfair life is. It's not productive. If you accept that it is unfair and let it go, then you can move on to change what you are able to change. Otherwise, if you only think about how unfair it is, nothing will ever change.

Maybe it's our different backgrounds? I grew up watching people in my family not do anything to change circumstances, just only be sad that life was so unfair. Of course, since they didn't do anything to change it, it never did change, and they never enjoyed what they had.

As my father always said, "No one stamped 'Life is fair' your birth certificate. And we weren't rich, and my son was robbed at gunpoint, and I still think it's an important thing to remember. I agree with your interpretation, Romi.

Have a super day, everyone!

Oh - and I did not see it like this. I would have never thought of this.
For sure it is as you say: don´t waste time by ONLY thinking and complaining.
Now I really do understand what people so often tell me: your different kind of view is interesting to us. I never totally understood that.

And I think our different backgrounds for sure play a role in that.
And if we put our 2 points of view together we come to a result I would love to see: don´t get used to injustice in this world. Don´t ignore it, name it loud and go on working that it changes.

Life is not fair - yes. Make sure that you are not a reason of this - and then go out and jump to action.
Thanks Romi for your mondays musing - I like it.

Anna - my husband's father used to say "Fair is something that happens once a year in the county." I hope your son has as great an attitude as you. :)
