making up for lost time

Whew! What a year, eh? Believe it or not, I actually did get a little work done the first part of the year, and you'll see it in the fall. :) But right now, let's get down to some muse-y business! (btw, at the end of this post, there's a give-away!)

This came off the needles the night before last and I blocked it yesterday.
I'm madly in love with it, so please indulge me a little here.
You're going to have to see it blocking...
oooh and aaaah over the beads along the edging...
and then you need to notice that there is no spine in the stockinette stitch area.

I'll let you off after you admire the spine in the lace section.
Here is her garter stitch sister.
I'll be brief.
Just a couple of pics. Okay three. :)

There's also a scarf. I showed it blocking (I think; I may have just tweeted it).
Here's a pic of three of the four projects I just finished. There's a hat in there too.
These are all going to come out in my muses eBook - and complete said eBook - as soon as my test knitters are finished with them! I will get into what the gorgeous yarns are in my next post. Now. How about the give-away!? Can you guess which project is which muse? The persimmon and green are one, then there's the hat and the scarf, for three total muse names. Leave me your guesses and you will be entered to win one of three gorgeous hand dyed skeins of yarn! You have until Thursday June 14, 11:59 pm PST to leave a comment and be entered in a random drawing! You have three chances, for three possible muses. And the prizes? There's this laceweight silk from Iridaceae:
or this laceweight silk/merino blend from At Bullard Farm:
or this merino/cashmere/nylon sock yarn from Little Red Bicycle.
All lovely lovely yarny goodness from gifted hand dyers.

Stand by for more news coming soon!

Hat is Urania (as it's a circle shape), scarf Thalia and the last one would have to be Euterpe as the shawl. Very pretty designs!

I'm gonna guess the shawl is Euterpe, since I can kind of see that motif as a flute. The hat could be Urania, since the circle of eyelets could be a globe. Which makes the scarf Thalia. Hmm.. Wikipedia mentions she's sometimes shown crowned with ivy, and I can see that scarf being a vine of ivy leaves.

your designs are so delicate. Beautiful!

I know nothing about the Muses, so this is a random guess -

Urania = Hat
Euterpe = Shawl
Thalia = Scarf

The rectangular scarf must be Clio, I am thinking scrolls here. The two shawls might be about poetry (or at least that is my thought about it - love them both, btw. The garter stitch makes it reversible, which I like!) so those will be named after Erato. The hat is a tricky one... Urania, I would guess.

Wonderful stuff for the giveaway, you are about to really spoil someone with it ;-)

Nice weekend all. And happy knitting of course! Ciao, Fleur (Fleurtje-Eliza on Ravelry)

so stunning and a total guess but thought you might like to know my reasoning
Scarf- Euterpe- Called the "Giver of delight", when later poets assigned roles to each of the Muses, she was the muse of music, therefore a scarf to show a music sheet :)

Shawl- Urania- Urania dresses in a cloak embroidered with stars and keeps her eyes and attention focused on the Heavens,therefore a spineless shawl :)

Hat- Thalia -She was portrayed as a young woman with a joyous air, crowned with ivy - therefor a round lace hat :)

Im sure i am wrong on all accounts but i did have fun trying to work it out lol and i can see me needing them all.
best wishes

I so like it when there is a set. It can be a hat and a shawl, a scarf and wrist warmers, a cowl and socks, but something that you can wear together. Thanks so much of doing this.
