Monday's Musing

"Be the change you want to see in the world." - Mahatma Ghandi

I always try to remember this while holiday shopping with cranky people. It makes me smile even if I don't quite feel like it! :)

When I was in the 9th grade, I was a pretty shy little girl. I mentioned to someone, don't remember who as it was a million years ago, that no one ever smiled at me in hall when we changed classes. Her answer...I'm sure it was a female I was talking to..."Do you smile at them?" I nodded no. She told me that very rarely, if you smiled at or said hello to someone would they not respond to you in the same way. So I tried it. It worked and I still do it to strangers today. I love that little bit of a look of surprise, a quick look away and then the quick look back with either a hesitant smile or a hello. Beats being miserable, doesn't it!

I love this quote. My sister gave me a bag with this quote on it, because, she said, it so reminded her of me. That's one of the nicest things anyone has ever said to me.

I had a really tough week (I know it's only Wednesday). Anyway, I read this quote and it made me smile. Sometimes just a few words will turn your week around...Thank You
