...and the crowd ROARED
7 Small Shawls: T - 6 hours.
Or at least they said congratulations a little. :)
But I? I am feeling absolutely elated! Part of that may be due to the sugar and caffeine high, but really, I think it's just because I finished the 7th and last small shawl of my 7 Small Shawls eBook subscription, wove in the ends and blocked her!
Yes! Today! The day was not without its share of drama, but more about that later! I can hardly believe my odyssey has come to a fruitful and timely end. I am flying high right now!
Here she is, #7!
She is knit side to side.
The yarn I used, Bugga! in Adonis Butterfly, was dreamy!
I think this may be the one I will wear the most.
Funny, eh?
So I think it's time for you all to guess the names of the last two. Don't you? Just to remind you a little, here is #6 in all her red glory.
There are two Pleiades sisters left: Alcyone and Asterope. Which is which?
Here are their other lovely sisters! There's Merope.
Maia.
Celaeno.
Elektra.
And Taygete.
Leave a comment with your guess by midnight PST, Wednesday January 5 to be entered to win a lovely copper swirl shawl pin, as shown below.
This time, I will choose two winners randomly!
As of the moment, the eBook does not contain the last three shawls: Taygete, Alcyone, and Asterope. They need to be test knitted first but will make their debuts early in the coming year! Thank you everyone, for joining me in my quest!!! (ETA: the ebook contains 7 of the 12 shawls I ended up designing and knitting in 2010, but more on the others later!)
Happy New Year!

Congratulations! I've loved watching you design and knit these beauties. You should be extremely proud of these awesome designs!
Hurray!! And congratulations, Romi!!
All so lovely and I'm do happy I have the ebook - great way for you all to get your designs out there! So am really looking forward to the last three! Happy New Year to you and yours
Well, I'll give the green-y blue Alcyone, and the red, Asterope. :-) I love me some copper! :-) - Sam
Through tears, of happiness for you Romi, welcome to sister #6 and #7! What a ride it's been...
And the crowd roars :-)
Love and Happy New Year to you and your family!
Love,
Jeanne
Congratulations! They are all lovely. I'm going to say that Alcyone is the red and Asterope is the blue.
Hurray! Congrats!
No. 7 is definitely Alcyone with her connection to Halcyon days and the sea.
And No. 6 is perfect for Asterope, which is a butterfly in addition to being one of the Seven Sisters.
As always, Rosemary, your work is simply lovely. I wonder if undulating elelets in shawl #7 came from a stitch dictionary or did you dream them up? Beautiful either way.
Of course Alcyone is #7 and Acerope #6.
What a fabulous collection of shawls! I am looking forward to working on each of the remaining 3!
Congratulations and Happy New Year
I think the blue one is Asterope and Alcyone is the red one... Congrats on finishing your goal!
Asterope for the red one because she was loved by Ares and Alcyone for the aqua one becuase she caught Poseidon's eye. Red for war/courage, and aqua for the sea... I dunno...
Asterope for red (Ares) and Alcyone for aqua (Poseidon).
#6 - Asterope
#7 - Alcyone
Congratulations and I look forward to knitting the final shawls in your book. =)
well done!!! What a great achievement and what a great collection of shawls. #6 is Alcyone and #7 is Asterope
They are both beautiful but the red one just says Alcyone and Asterope is the blue.
#6 is Asterope and #7 is Alcyone.
I think every one you have done has been my favorite...Until the next one is done. I love # 7 it is awesome.
Congrats on finishing on time
Love them, Romi. Both of them. Probably the most of all!
Alcyone is #6 and Asterope #7.
Can't wait to knit them. A great excuse, me thinks, to break my yarn diet...
Those are so beautiful - congrats on the fabulous designs. I think....
#6/red is Alcyone
#7/blue is Asterope.
I think Asterope is the blue one because it can also a butterfly genus and Alcyone, the brightest of the Pleides should be the red. They are all lovely.
Congrats!
#6 is Alcyone because it reminds me of birds' wings, #7 is definitely Asterope, because the zig-zaggy pattern around the border is reminiscent of lightning bolts. According to some sources I saw, Asterope can mean "lightning."
They are both gorgeous. I'm still working on Maia, so I have a long way to go!
Congratulations indeed! Not only did you make it, but you created 7 individual beauties (not several versions of one type of shawl). Very well done!
I would guess Asterope for the blue shawl; a double star and almost a double shawl the way it appears to grow out in two directions from the center back. Alcyone, being the brightest, could be a vibrant red.
omg, I think I bought that colorway of Bugga - and congrats on this series - what an accomplishment!
Congrats Romi! What a wonderful feat and great way to end the year. All of the shawls are gorgeous!
I say Alcyone for the red #6 and
Asterope for the blue/green #7.
For no other reason, than that is what strikes my fancy.
I agree with CarolynJean -- the kingfisher blue is Alcyone and the red butterfly is Asterope
They are lovely. I believe the blue one (#7) is Alcyone because it reminds me of a stormy sea and #6 is Asterope.
Congratulations! They are beautiful. :) Happy New Year to you and thank you for your wonderful creations.
My guess for the last two sisters are: Alceyene for the lovely blue/green shawl and Asterope) for the red.
So pretty!
i think the red is Asterope and the blue Alcyone.
Happy New Year! I was received your eBook as a Secret Santa Present -- how lucky was I?
They are truly lovely and I simply can't wait to start knitting them! However they are to be named I'll be calling the red one "Madame Butterfly" -- just because. :D
--elizaduckie
beautiful and congrats!
and am going with asterope for the red
I see streams of water in the blue shawl, so I would guess that it is Alcyone, daughter of Poseidon. The red shawl seems to have the mountains and valleys of the world, so I would guess it is Sterope, daughter of Atlas.
Alcyone is #7 and Asterope is #6.
Awesome!
I'll go for Alcyone as the red one and Asterope as the blue; but whichever way you decide, they're both lovely. PLEASE tell me it didn't take more than one skein of Forbidden City for the red one - I'm lusting after it and would have to do some serious justifying to spend for 2 skeins ;-)
Mythology was never my thing, so just a guess:
Red - Alcyone
Blue - Asterope
Whatever they're called, they're beautiful!
Marie
Thank you for such a wonderful and delightful pattern collection.
The red is Asterope and blue-green is Alcyone. I can't wait to receive these designs. I've been waiting for one them to 'speak' to me and the red one definitely does.
Congratulations!! I knew you could do it.
They are beautiful and I think the red one is Asterope and the blue one Alcyone. And happy new year to you and all the boys!
Happy New Year!
I will say the blue shawl is asterope and the red is alcyone. the blue reminds me of a rope or entwining knots.Beautiful.
Congratulations, Romi! One shawl is more beautiful than the next. Although I haven't cast on any of them yet, it is one of my resolutions to do so in 2011! Happy New Year and I hope you get some time to relax!
Just a wild guess, with no research (which goes against my librarian ways), but I'd say the blue-green one is Alcyone and the red one (which is, I think, my favorite of all) is Asterope. All seven are lovely!
Congratulations Romi - what a wonderful project... It was great to see how the sisters developed over the year...one more beautiful than the other. What will 2011 bring? My guess is that Asterope will be the red scarf (no 6) and Alcyone will be the Blue (no. 7).
I just bought the ebook yesterday & am getting an update already! Looking forward to knitting these. I think #7 is Alcyone and #6 is Asterope.
Alcyone is the beautiful blue, I think, and Sterope (also Asterope) for the amazing red :)
It's been so amazing watching your design process come to life on your blog. Thank you for sharing with us!
So, I guess #7 as Alcyone because it looks like waves in the sea to me and Alcyone was thrown in the sea and #6 as Asterope because it looks like butterfly wings and Asterope is a kind of butterfly in addition to one of the sisters.
I love all these shawls..happy new year to you..sue tp
Alycone is #7 as I believe she threw herself into the sea. The other would be Asterope then. They are all lovely.
I say Alcyone for the teal, as the wife/consort of Posidon, and Asterope as the mother of Ares, being a rather red grecian god. Grats on finishing everything, and I can't wait to see the patterns. Especially for the red beauty!
Thank you for designing seven such lovely shawls! I hope to eventually knit all of them as I love each one!!
Congratulations! What a huge accomplishment. They are all so beautiful.
My guess is #6 is Asterope and #7 is Alcyone.
Can't wait to knit them all!
Mwahhahha! What was it for this year? 10 shawls? Better hurry now...
Wonderful job, Romi. All of the shawls are lovely and unique! Quite a feat for 2010.
I believe #6 is Asterope (butterfly, garden, apples) and #7 is Alcyone (kingfisher, the sea, etc. By any name, though, they're beautiful.
Happiest of New Years to you an your loved ones. Designbee
Red for Asterope...it looks the most star-like! Both are beautiful!
So pretty!
My guess is that the Alcyone is the red one and Asterope is the blue one.
Congrats and Happy New year! I think that the red one should be Asterope and the bugga! one should be named Alcyone.
Congratulations Romi! What a way to end the year on a triumph! I think Number 7 blue shawl is Alcyone with the calm waters and Number 6 red shawl is Asterope. Looking forward to the final edition of the patterns.
Wonderfull shawls. I do not know which one I will knit first I love them all. Wish you all the best for this new year
Florence (in France)
I think Alcyone is the blue one because of her relationship with Poseidon, which leaves Asterope to be the red.
Thank you for creating these lovely patterns and congratulations on your accomplishment! I am simply loving knitting these.
I´m so glad I purchased the e-book! Lovley shawls! Happy New Year from Sweden/Anita
Hey, you made it ! Congratulations, all of them are gerat
I'm guessing Alcyone for the blue and Asterope for the red. I'm looking forward to knitting them both.
Congrats on achieving your goal, and I hope you took the time for some chamapgne at midnight.
Happy New Year!
Wow - how great to finish on New Year's Eve! They are lovely - a perfect completion of a wonderful set of shawls. I especially love the blue one, which I think is Asterope - I see the lightning in her. The red seems quite queenly to me.
Congratulations Romi, you did it well in time :)
I am still knitting on Celaeno, but I feel the call now for Asterope as well!
Like others said, #6 should be Asterope, and #7 Alcyone, because of the mythologic significance.
Happy New Year, and may 2011 bring you all you wish for.
Congratulations!
And thank you-the shawls are a wonderful gift to wear and to give to friends.
Congratulations, Romi. The red is Asterope and the blue Alcyone.
Romi, Congratulations!!! LOVE, LOVE, LOVE the new shawls. So, we have just two more names left, Alcyone and Asterope. I've got a 50/50 chance to get it right, yes? So, without further ado, the "Forbidden City" will be Alcyone and the Adonis Butterfly will be Asterope...!
Can't wait for my new shawl pin (hee hee!) Happy New Year!!
Congrats Romi and Thanks!!
Green one / Alcyone
Red (Which I really love) Asterope
Anne aka vibj
Yeah! You were done on your deadline! What a feeling of accomplishment and a great way to start the new year. I would say that #7 (blue) is Asterope because this sister is also called a butterfly, and #6 (red) is Alcyone as the shawl looks very birth feathery and this sister was turned into a bird. Happy and healthy new year!
The aqua shawl has to be called Alcyone. Alcyone threw herself into the sea after realizing the fate of her husband Ceyz. This shawl reminds me of the colour of the ocean.
That leaves Asterope for the red shawl. They are all so beautiful and I can`t wait to get started. Thanks for the inspiration.
#7 is Alcyone, and #6 is Asterope. Both are beautiful. Congratulations on finishing!
No. 7 - Alcyone
No. 6 - Asterope
Congratulations, Romi!
I think Alcyone is the red one and the blue one is Asterope. Congratulations on meeting your goal. We get the prize of 7 beautiful shawls. Now what's the plan for 2011?
Definitely roaring and saying congratulations! All of the shawls are gorgeous and you should be so proud of this accomplishment. Maybe now you can relax!
They're all so lovely, just as the seven sisters would have been!!! I think that the red one #6 is Asterope, a twin star - like the soft lace ornaments are double, and the two halves are mirrored. So the blue one #7 is Alcyone, the "central" (as appears from Earth) and brightest star of the Pleiades ... a "blue giant" star!
Congratulations! Exhuberance should be a name for one of your shawls. Delighted to start your latest. Love your designs. Thank you for your sharing your creativity.
Congratulations on your accomplishment! I can't wait to knit these lovelies and hope that you include instructions on making them larger too. Just can't get enough of them!
My guess is that the blue will be Asterope and the red will Alcyone.
they look great, congratulations on finishing! and I agree with carolynjean on the naming:
No. 7 is definitely Alcyone with her connection to Halcyon days and the sea.
And No. 6 is perfect for Asterope, which is a butterfly in addition to being one of the Seven Sisters.
Congratulations! So beautiful!
I love your design! I don't have a clue about the names but they are great.
lorelostintheusa on rav
Hmmmm.... I'd guess the lovely blue shawl is Alcyone, which would make the red Asterope.
Congratulations on completing your quest!!! The next 2 names are:
Sterope and Alcyone.
I think the red one is Alcyone and the blue is Asterope. Either way, they are lovely shawls!
Beautiful! As are all your shawls. I look forward to making and wearing each one. #7 is Alcyone and #6 is Asterope. Thank you for a wonderful year of shawls.
Wonderful, your shawls are so pretty! the last one reminds me of the sea Leucothea
You did it Rosemary!!! Each one is beautiful and unique. The journey through your seven shawls has been interesting, enjoyable, nail biting, and joyous. Watching you has been batter than any reality show. Thank you for sharing the glorious sisters and for seven gorgeous shawl patterns.
I think the red is Asterope and the blue is Alcerone
but it doesn't matter they are all BEAUTIFUL and I am so pleased I signed up for the patterns
Congrats on your achievement!!
Congratulations Romi!! Well done! I think the red one is Alcyone, and the blue one is Asterope. Either way, they're gorgeous, and not only did you achieve your goal of 7 small shawls, but you did it WELL, and they are all shawls that I would love to make/wear. Congratulations, and what a great way to say goodbye to 2010. I can't wait to see what you do in 2011.
Congratulations, Romi. I know how good it feels to accomplish your goals! All of your work is beautiful. Happy New Year!
How about Mistral for the blue one. It looks like a breeze over waves.
ROAR!!!!!!!!!!
Every single one of your shawls are beautiful! I'm guessing that Alcyone is the red one and Asterope is the blue.
Congratulations! I love them! I'll say Alcyone is the 6th shawl and Asterope is the 7th shawl.
Congratulations! I would guess the aqua is Alcyone and the red is Asterope. All 7 designs are lovely!
Happy New Year to you!
Great job, Romi. You have spurred me on to knit ten lace projects for 2010, including many of yours.
I would say Alcyone is the red shawl, and Asterope the green. Can't wait to make them in 2011.
It's a hard thing to be defined by your seducer, or perhaps your children by him, but my guess is that the lovely red shawl is Asterope, as she was seduced by Ares, the god of war, the red god. And similarly, the gorgeous aqua shawl would be for Alcyone, who was seduced by Poseidon: what more sea-like color? (It must feel amazing on.)
Wonderful wrap-up to a beautiful project!
Oh, I LOVE having them all together like this so I can decide which I'll knit first!
Asterope=red
Alcyone=Bugga
Very beautiful, Romi! Congratulations on meeting your deadline. It was a down-to-the-wire, breakneck finish to 2010!
As to the names: Alcyone is a bird, and Asterope is starry faced - so, based on the shape, I would say the red one suits Alcyone best, leaving the green one as Asterope.
I think that Asterope looks so very wearable, with a wide range of wardrobe options. She's like a pashmina in versatility.
Congratulations again!
The last one, number 7, is my favorite of all of the shawlettes - I can't wait for the pattern to be available - I'll start knitting it as soon as it's avail. I already have yarn picked out for it!
Yay! And a lovely collection it is. I'm already thinking of Mother's Day gifts...
Hmm, I think #6 should be Asterope because her pattern looks very much like butterfly wings, and #7 Alcyone.
I have loved watching your journey to finish your 7 small shawls and can't wait to get the final three patterns! Congratulations! Can't wait to see what you come up with in 2011!
Congrats on your splendid creativity & vision! I really have no idea--but will say that Asterope is #6 and is #7.
Yay for you!!! And US!!! I love all these shawls. I'm gonna guess that #6 is Asterope and #7 is Alcyone.
Asterope is the butterfly-winged red shawl, and Alycone is the blue-green sea shawl, which I adore!
eta--I don't know why Google is not letting me post as myself. I am rogue1 on Google and Ravelry.
Happy new year! The shawls are lovely! I'll go with Alcyone for the blue and Asterope for the red.
Congratulations!
Congrats on completing all 7 in 2010!
I vote for number 6, the red ones as Alcyone and number 7 the blue one as Asterope.
So beautiful....Alcyone is the blue one because she bore children for Poseidon and Asterope is the red one.
Congratulations! I'm matching my stash to your designs and 2011 will be the year of the samll shawl. Thank you! I'm going to say the red beauty is Alcyone and the blue Bugga is Asterope.
Wow, what an accomplishment! Congratulations to you (and hooray to us, with a new collection of beautiful shawl patterns to knit *wink*)
I'm just going by the way the names sound to me: I'd say, Alcyone is the calm blue and Asterope the fiery red...
Congratulations! You did it! Your designs are all gorgeous. My guess for the names are Alcyone for the red and Asterope for the blue.
Congratulations on your wonderful accomplishment! The 7 shawls are all so individual and timeless. Each one has unique qualities and shows your orginality as a designer. A proud moment!
Asterope=red
Alcyone=blue
I'll probably mix up the names anyway so it doesn't really matter.
Paula aka PrairiePiper
Hurray!!! You are awesome Romi. They are all beautiful!
I say the red one is Alcyone and the blue/green Asterope.
Alcyone is the red, and and Asterope is the blue.
Hope I win! I'm a big fan of your work.
Wahoo! I am so happy for you... that was an incredible goal, and when the final pages are inserted into my e-book, I intend to print it off and make a hand-bound book.. maybe with a photo of the Pleides on the cover. OK, for a guess.. how about Alcyone in red and Asterope in aqua (or would you call that teal?).
alcyone-red to ward off the 'evil eye'
asterope-daughter of a river
:0)
First off, congrats on completing your goal. All the shawls are lovely. I think the red one looks like it has a feather pattern so I'd say it is Alcyon (who apparently appeared as a kingfisher bird). That makes the blue-green one Asterope.
I think I will knit that red one next when the pattern comes out as I really love feathers.
Well, my guess is Alcyone for number 7 and Asterope for number 6. Since 7 is a lovely blue color and Alcyone is sometimes a kingfisher. Asterope for the sixth because it is also a genus of butterflies.
I think number 7 -- the blue one is Alcyone -- it is the name of the Cousteau Society's research vessel and this shawl reminds me of the sea. Therefore, the other must be Asterope!
Ok... I think #6 the red should be Alcyone, and #7 should be Asterope.
They are both as beautiful as the rest of their sisters whatever you decide to name them.
Congratulations on making your goal, the patterns are beautiful and one of these days when life calms down I will get going on them!!
I believe the red should be Alcyone whom was turned into a kingfisher bird (the red looks like bird wings to me), and the blue Asterope....I have been anxiously awaiting every post you've done throughout the year, just to see your lovely knitting and to enjoy your musings and a peek into your lives...thank so much for sharing your talent and your life with us!
I think Alcyone as the red #6, because she was turned into a bird and I see wings or bird motifs in the shawl. Though now that I read more, I think that Alcyone is a different one. But I'll stick to my guess.
Fabulous! They are all beautiful! Thank you and a Happy New Year!
Asterope for the red (butterfly).
Alcyone for the kingfisher blue.
Both beautiful.
Happy New Year and well done Romi.
Christine
ps HLK is my Ravelry name
Wow, you've done a great job designing and getting all the shawls done. I've only just started knitting lace shawls, and am two thirds of the way through Celeano. Had to stop for Christmas knitting. I think the red one will be Asterope. I am looking forward to picking the next shawl to knit.
Thank-You!
Congratulations! I can hardly wait to knit all of them.
What a wonderful accomplishment to begin the new year with! Congratulations! My best guess would be #7 being Alcyone, primarily because of the color and #6 being Asteope! Thanks for the lovely shawls! Hope to see you at Stitches West!
Beautiful! I'm going to have to get that ebook... And Happy 2011 too!
They are all beautiful! I am so proud of you! You did a wonderful and impressive job with all the patterns!
My vote--#7=Alcyone and #6=Asterope
They just sound appropriate judging by their beauty. AND the copper pin is absolutely perfect for my red circular shawl tho it is still on the needles. ^_^
I'd say the green Alcyone, and the red, Asterope...just an intuitive idea - they both look yummy - happy new year!
Rebecca
I'm participating in 11 shawls 2011 and will finally be knitting your seven shawls, plus the pin and lace club shawls. I am so looking forward to it all. Congrats on achieving your goal! And that last one? It looks amazing!
Just gorgeous! Congratulations on a job well done!!!
Love the shawls!!!!!!!
omanitz.ny@verizon.net
Those are all gorgeous shawls. I was thinking of Turkish delights when looking at the red yummy shawl. But I would never manage to remember Asterope and Alcyone - simply just call it delight
I wish you a happy new year :)
Alcyone is obviously the lovely one in blue, and Asterope is a sweet butterfly in red.
Congratulations, Romi!
I vote for #7 (blue) as Alcyone, because one of the mythological Alcyones had an existence as a kingfisher, and the body of this shawl looks like feathers to me. That means #6 (red) is Asterope, and why not?
Pam
Love all of these shawls so much! I'll guess that the red one is Asterope and the blue/teal one is Alcyone. I am intrigued by the sideways knit of this one!
Asterope is the red one and Alcyone is the blue one.
And congrats on finishing your goal!!
Happy new year Romi. I think the red is Asterope and the blue Alcyone.
Cheers, SonomaKnits
Shawl #6 (red) - Asterope
Shawl #7 (blue green) - Alcyone
Hooray for finishing them! They are lovely, and I can't wait to knit them. I think the blue one is Asterope - she looks like lightning bolts are shooting through her. And Alcyone is the red queen.
Congratulations! I think that Alcyone is green-blue and Asterope is red.
Congrats on meeting your goal! Great way to wind up 2010. I'm guessing the red shawl is asterope and the blue one is alcyone.
Well done. Hurrah and hurrah. I am so pleased you made it to the end in time. Well done, Romi!
Alcyone for the blue, leaving Asterope - and I am definitely in (after a rather hectic period in my life) for test knitting #7 (at least) if I may.
#7 bugga Alcyone and #6 red Asterope.
sounds good to me
Thank you Romi. This has been such a fun adventure. It's like reading a good mystery.
Name choices for me would be:
#6 = Asterope & #7 = Alcyone
Beautiful shawls. I can't wait to receive the patterns. My guess is the red shawl is Alcyone and the blue shawl is Asterope
So pretty, both they are...can you tell I've been watching too many Star Wars Movies?
And obviously the force has been with you.
My vote:
No. 6 is perfect for Asterope
No. 7 is Alcyone....my favorite name (well after Maia).
thanks so much for such a wonderful e-book.
All the best in 2011.
Alcyone sounds red to me. LOL That makes Asterope blue. Congrats on the lovely work. I look forward to knitting both of these!
Congratulations Romi! I never doubted your ability to reach your goal. The shawls are lovely! Here are my guesses for the naming of the shawls:
#6 (red) Asterope. I see flowers and flowers need butterflies.
#7 (blue-green) Alcyone. What a tragic story, but looks like water to me...or the peaceful time for laying eggs - bird wings.
Sharon
I think the turquoise one is Alcyone & the red is Asterope. can't wait for the patterns.
they are beautiful, can't wait to get the patterns.
I think that Asterope is red and Alcyone is aqua. Beautiful shawls!
You did it! You did it! Bravo! And, THANKS!!! xxxx
My guess is Alcyone for the red (feathers) and Asterope for the blue-green (river).
And congratulations!
DianaC
Romi, you did an outstanding job on all of your shawls. They are so beautifully designed. Thank you for them. I am looking forward to the others.
Blueish shawl: Alcyone
Redish Shawl: Asterope
Thanks, Romi.
Roxanne
Hi Romi,
What a wonderful feat. Well done, and thanks for creating these wonderful shawls.
I think the blue is Alcyone and the red is Asterope.
You did it again, they are all so beautiful, I can hardly wait until I have time to start them. I already have people picked out to knit them for. :) I'm grateful that I chose to get this ebook when you first started it, it has been a wonderful investment. ;)
Blue-green for Asterope and the red for Alcyone.
They look wonderful. I've enjoyed following your designing journey.
They are looking gorgeous and I am so thrilled that I signed up for the eBook ;-) Well done!
I'm thinking that Asterope is shawl #6 (red) and Alcyone is shawl #7 (teal-colour). I can't wait to knit Alcyone -- there's just something about it!
Woo hoo!!!! Congrats on finishing. It's been fun watching the progress through the year. I'm voting Asterope for the blue which leaves Alcyone for the red. Maybe I could have flipped a coin =)
The Blue green Shaw should be Alcyone and the Read one should be Asterope.
I love all of the sisters.
Michelle Higgs (m1chelleh1ggs)
Alcyone is the greenishblue, Asterope the ravishing red. They are lovely.
I love your new shawls - beauty!!
Ann
I'm going to take a specific guess as to which shawl is which by stating that
Asterope is the red shawl as she is a type of nymph and married a desirable lover;
and Alcyone is the blue one as both her and her lover died at sea and were turned into halcyon birds so that they could stay together.
Congratulations!
It's AMAZING!
I think the red is Asterope and the other is Alcyone.
What an interesting stitch pattern on the main body of the last one! My name guesses: red Alcyone and aqua Asterope. Congratulations, they're all beautiful!
Congratulations on finishing this amazingly lovely collection! My vote is for #6 to be Alcyone and #7 to be Asterope.
Alcyone for the blue, asterope for the red!
They are both so wonderful and I'm looking forward to knitting them up as soon as they're out!
Congratulations on achieving your design goal for 2010. And thank you for providing us knitters with more lovely pattern options. To my eye #6 is Asterope, leaving Alcyone for #7.
# 6 is Alcyone the brightest of the stars(Of the seven sisters(Pleiades)..
# 7 Asterope is one of the seven Pleiades (sisters);like the 2 butterfly parts (synonym for two parts))in the 7th shawl Asterope has two meanings.#1 One of the 7 Pleiades, Sterope, meaning #2 : One of the stars in the star cluster Pleiades Synonym:
Congratulations Romi! They all look so lovely. My guess is that the names are:
#6 - Asterope and
#7 - Alcyone
Hope you have had a very Happy New Year!
Love the teensy bit of mis-lead. But clearly #6 is Asterope. And #7 is Alcyone. I did not realize they were all completed; was doing a search for shawls that made me think "Water" when I gazed at them. Great design choice for the name. I have also queued it; just need to buy the book and check my stash. Lovely! All.
They are all lovely. Hard to tell which I will knit first.
I think the red beauty is Asterope, who is associated with Ares and the blue-green one is Alyecone (sp?) who is associated with Poseidon.
Thanks for sharing your creativity!
Congratulations, they are both beautiful!
#6 - Asterope (red)
#7 - Alcyone (aqua)
Happy, healthy, joyful, peaceful, prosperous New Year!
#6 in red is Asterope and #7 is Alcyone.
Congratulations! I will guess that Asterope is the blue shawl, and Alcyone is the red one. Either way, they are both beautiful!
Love your shawls! I'm guessing that #6 is Asterope and #7 is Alcyone. No well thought out reason - just a 50/50 guess!
Alcyone for the blue one, because of her connection with the sea. Which leaves Asterope for the red. They are both stunning.
Roar!
Hi Romi,
These are beautiful! I think the blue one # 7, is Alcyone. It reminds me of the 7 charmed (Halcyon) days at sea around the Winter Solstice when waves are calmed.
The red one # 6, Reminds me of Asterope. It looks as though it could transform the wearer into a butterfly!

Romi,
Sorry, forgot to attach my email! I do hope to win!

I'd say #7 is Asterope and #6 is Alcyone. Don't know why that's just my guess.
Yes, the crowd DID roar and IS STILL roaring!!! The whole "constellation" of shawls is just beautiful. You should be so proud of your achievement. I am thrilled to be a part of it and I can't wait to make them all!
#6 - Asterope "Another name for Hesperia, the wife or desired lover of Aesacus. And, it is a butterfly genus"
#7 - Alcyone "Alcyone threw herself into the sea at the news [of her husband's drowning at sea], and was transformed into a halcyon (kingfisher)."

I just purchased the book and cannot wait to cast on! The last 2 are both beautiful. My guess to names would be
Alcyone - blue / Asterope - red
I love your designs, they are all beautiful! I think that the red one is Alcyone and the blue one is Asterope. My rav ID is woolnut1. Thanks for the comp!
Most beautiful. If I got to pick, Ms. Red Shawl would be Asterope and Ms. Bugga shawl would be Alcyone.
Congratulations on finishing your challenge. I'm looking forward knitting them all.
#6 Asterope
#7 Alcyone (my favorite)
How can I resist leaving a comment?!?! I'm looking forward to casting on for one of your new designs--I think I'll start with the fingerless gloves and then move on to a shawl (or two!).
Andy
#6 Asterope and #7 Alcyone. Love them both. Hope I win!
Congratulations, Romi, on completing your awesome quest. Your followers can't wait to get started on the last 3 designs. I am thinking that Alcyone is #7 and Asterope (aka Sterope) is #6. Thanks for having the contest!
