Happy blogiversary to me!

I can't believe it, but it's been two years since my first post! Have you ever gone through one of those periods of time that simultaneously feels like it lasted ten minutes and ten years? Yup. That's what it's been like. Whoosh!

Ahem. My girl Jamie found me in the new Knitters Magazine! It's a good thing I have you all to watch my back, because I seem always to be the last one to get my copy of whatever it is. :) I'm on page 22. Jaimie scanned it for me. Thank you Jamie!!!

So in honor of the blogiversary and the Knitters mention, I'm going to have a contest with the two pins shown as prizes: a brushed nickel heart penannular and a copper "C" shaped penannular. Y'all have until midnight Sunday, September 7th to leave me a comment telling me what inspires you. I love hearing about others' inspirations. :) I will choose two winners randomly!

Thank you all so much for reading my blog!

  2. Wow, I'm going to be the first to post.

I am inspired by variety. That may sound weird, but I cannot have just one hobby. I enjoy one hobby for a few months then move on.

Also my inpiration is the joy on my family and friends faces when I give them an item made with love, caring and time.

Having someone even myself enjoy the things I make inspires me.

    Your pins are really beautiful.

  5. Happy blogiversary!

I think my inspiration is facing challenges. As soon as I figure out how something works or understand how to accomplish something, I find my attention starting to wane. Complexity (but not fiddliness!) is my driving force.

I'm inspired by nature. Colors in nature, shapes in nature, you get the picture. I'm also inspired by all the knitting and spinning on the web. I love to see what everyone's working on. I inspires me to try new techniques and to take risks!

I love your shawl pins and your lace designs!

  13. I am inspired by hearing about others' successes (conrats on the Knitters' mention!). I'm inspired by seeing others' designs, be it in store windows, magazines (knitting or not), books, or on the internet, in advertisements, or on blogs, or in Ravelry projects... I'm inspired by the things I think about during the time just before I drift off to sleep...

  14. My two daughters inspire me. My girls are adopted, I'm an "older" mom and so I truly realize what I almost missed. So they are everything to me.

My youngest falls asleep in my bed watching me knit....I can see her eyes get heavier as she watches my fingers move and the yarn dance....

  16. Rosemary- Happy Blogiversary- you've done so much in a short space of time- and now you are published!

I get inspiration from my garden, trees, if you look at things from a different perspective- it's all there.

Many more successes are coming your way.

  17. I'm inspired by all the women that are and have been in my life! Women are amazing - the challenges that they face day to day and all that stuff they accomplish! The way all of us hold our families together and work, exercise and look beautiful!

    Happy Blogiversary!

  20. Happy anniversary dear. It has been a pleasure reading you and been inspired by your work.
I get inspired by many factors. Sometimes a particular skein of yarn calls for something special. I rarely knit a garment with the same yarn that the pattern requires, so my results can be quite different from the original. My knitting friends from Las Palmas Knits are an endless source of inspiration and encouragement. They are so talented that makes me wish for longer days and an extra pair of arms :)

I am inspired by the creativity and skill of other knitters.

  22. You do Rosemary.

You are just the nicest person. You are able to do so much with your life and your knitting and your pins and you have two lovely boys and a talented husband.

Your designs are gorgeous. If you don't know how to do something you go figure it out.

I wanna be you when I grow up.

I am so lucky to be able to call you my friend.

  23. happy happy anniversary! i just wrote a long meandering comment but it didn't go through (shoot!) but here's a shorter version: my inspiration comes from totally random things during the day that will just grab me. Like looking down and seeing how lovely my khaki slacks, white cotton blouse and cream colored yarn on the bamboo needles look all together in my lap. And then my mind starts going....it's always like that.
Congrats on the article mention too!

I am inspired by what other people create. They always get me thinking about what I could do and how I could make something my own. Also, the Anthropologie catalog.

  28. Living in Oregon,
Colors change minute by minute, sunlight playing with the beautiful hills and trees. Clouds change everything in a moment and then back. Evening comes and the palette is changed again. Summer, Autumn, Spring and Winter have their own dye to color the view from my porch in Oregon.
Summer brings the lavender blooms to the sage green of their bushes,
Autumn brings the bright yellows to the purple in the maple leaves. Light frosts changing the hue and tint of Autumns colors.
Winter brings the cold deep blues of a January night sky, ice crunching under your feet.
Spring brings the chartreuse of new leaves and the bleating of new lambs. The rain studding everything with shimmering diamond drops. I love my porch in Oregon... and it's many colors
thanks for reminding me! Happy Blog Day!

  29. Happy blogiversary!

I get inspired by pictures, whether it be other people's pictures (on Ravelry or their blog) or the photographs that accompany a pattern. Depending on the day, complexity or simplicity will appeal to me. With very few exceptions, whatever I knit has to be wearable/usable!

  30. Ravelry inspires me! LOL Especially inspires me to finish my UFO's. Big hugs Rosemary! Happy Blogiversary!!! Congrats hun!!

  31. Well, I'd better leave a note about what inspires me if I want an opportunity to win a pin:

Mostly, nature inspires me. I used to tell my daughter, when she'd worry if this shirt went with those pants that if two colors occur together in nature, then they don't clash. She remembers that to this day and it's been many years since I told her that.

  32. Happy Blogiversary Romi!!!
Actually I am really inspired by reading other blogs and seeing how people are putting the creative into their everyday lives. I am also inspired by all of the handcrafted items that are everywhere around you in India. And the construction worker women who carry sand and gravel on their heads while wearing beautifully colored saris. We are so dull in the West...

Keep up the good work! I have been lurking for about 6 months --- and sent your URL to my favorite knit shop, hoping that they would add your pins to their products. Best wishes for another successful year of blogging.

Hi.... I've been reading your blog ever since Judy (Under Sask Skies) linked to you in one of her first blog posts. Happy blogiversary!

What inspires me? This was quite an interesting question. I finally decided that in knitting it is rhythm. If a pattern has a rhythmic stitch pattern, I love it and will keep working at it. Lots of ribbing, moss stitch, or fair isle (especially the peeries) have that rhythym and they are what keep me knitting. Same with weaving... threading drafts or treadlings that are too irrgegular annoy me.

    Happy blogiversary!!!

I'm inspired by all sorts of things, but fellow knitters really make me want to create.

Not only am I inspired by other knitters, blogs, magazines, and all sort of books, but by all aspects of nature: the skies (especially sunsets), grasses, flowers, moss and rocks, semi-precious stones (agates, amethyst in geodes, topaz, all pearls, opals -- my favorite), the colors of cat fur and their beautiful eyes. Autumn and the colors of Vermont energize and inspire me. Rain. Order (seldom obtainable) also inspires me. Peace-filled people, too, which happily includes my husband and two grown sons.

Happy Blogiversary -- glad you're here!

  37. I just wanted to wish you a happy blogiversary! And while I'm too late for the contest, it seemed appropriate that I go ahead and write what inspires me: lately it seems like most of my inspiration comes from reading blogs and seeing how others have incorporated craft into their lives. Even if I'm too busy to actually do something myself, it helps my sanity immensely to retain that creative urge that I get by seeing what others have done. Your blog is included obviously--and while I rarely comment due to time constraints, I just wanted to let you know that I love what you design and you are a constant source of inspiration. Thanks for that!

  41. Hi Rosemary! (hard to not type it with an "ie" on the end!)

Congrats on the second year of your blog. I'm too late for your contest, but wanted to wish you all the best. I do drop in from time to time, and must admit, every time I'm here, I think about how your blog was named! Kids really rock, eh? (mine being nearly 29 and just married 3 weeks ago!).

Under the heading of "better late than never", I must admit, my inspiration and my frustration is my stash. Sooooooo much thread and yarn, so little time!

Looking forward to the next two years of your blog (and all the years that follow!).
