Monday's Musing

I am a terrible worrier. Really. Terrible! So this is one I remind myself of often.

"Worry never robs tomorrow of its sorrow, it only saps today of its joy."
- Leo Buscaglia

and remember:

"Don't worry, be happy!"
- Bobby McFerrin

Have a great week! :)

Worrying serves a useful purpose if you channel it. It can be helpful if you have a paper to write or project to work out, because it motivates you to think clearly and deeply. But worrying about things you can't prevent anyway (disasters, losing a job, illness, etc.) is utterly pointless. I remind myself that the things I worry about rarely come to pass--it's always the thing I never saw coming that jumps up and knocks me on my *ss. Works for me, anyway!

I like the don't worry, be happy philosophy in life. Of course that doesn't mean you don't plan...

It is really hard not to worry if you have practiced it for so long. I have taken to ringing a bell in my ear or sniffing peppermint oil if I find myself obsessing or worrying or other compulsive behaviors. It is helping me! Miss you!!! MWAH!!!
