Monday's Musing

On Friday, a Naval Academy classmate of my husband's lost his son Andy in Iraq. You can read Andy's last blog post, left to be published in the event of his death, at the previous link. We're fairly subdued around here right now. Our thoughts are all with Andy's family.

In honor of Andy:

"War does not determine who is right - only who is left."
- Bertrand Russell

And from Andy:

"I'm dead, but if you're reading this, you're not, so take a moment to enjoy that happy fact."
- Andy Olmsted

Enjoy life and loved ones every day; it is all a gift!

I am sorry. Wish there was something I could say to ease the loss.

There are too many victims of this war.

I went out to read his post and later I'm going to go back to find back posts. I learned some interesting insights just from the one post.

I'm sorry you've lost your friend.

Thank you for sharing this, it's a gift in itself.

My thoughts are with you and with his family. But he sounds like such a wonderful guy, I hope most if not all of the memories are happy ones.

I'm so sorry Romi. If only there was something to say that would make it better... but I know there is nothing. It is a tragic loss for our world.

When you part from your friend, you grieve not; for that which you love most in [him] may be clearer in [his] absence, as the mountain to the climber is clearer from the plain.

Thanks for quoting Bertrand Russell, a great free thinker.

I am so sorry, what a terrible loss.

I am so sorry the only chance I ever had to meet him was through his final words. Thank you for sharing this sad and uplifting gift. My deepest condolences to his family.
