It was truly the day the earth stood still. Assumptions shattered, but a new togetherness was found as well. Never forget, lest it happen again.

My sister-in-law was teaching in NJ, and there were dozens of parents at her high school who worked in the towers. My brother was on the subway in Manhattan (he was one of the lucky ones. His was late.)

...And I did not know nor see till I was very nearly finished that the afghan I was making them for Christmas that I'd started a few days later, in a 7x2 rib, very very plain and very simple because that's just plain all I could handle in the immediate aftermath...

...was a visualization in knitting of those towers.
