Wherein the Black Beast is Tamed
Look! Tame mohair!
Gratuitous arty shot:
I'm using US size 7 needles so that the Mystery Stole pattern shows through the halo. The beads are also a bit larger than specified: size 6 instead of 8. And they are plummy purple. I love the way they look - like a glinting purple highlight on the black.
I finally started yesterday after a trip to the bead store (which is next door to the yarn store!). :)
I will save the real gloating until I have actually finished the Mystery Stole. No need to anger the Mohair Gods yet while they still have power over me.

That pattern is so gorgeous, and I can't wait till the rest of it starts showing up all over the place. Your yarn and your beads with it are really scrumptious.
What a beautiful beginning of your shawl! And yalk about good locations, bead store next dorr to the yarn store.
seriously beautiful. can't wait to see the fo. i love your color choices.
So sorry to miss knitting yesterday. Since it was 7/7/07/ I was lucky to have a sleep in and a lazy day at home while Ken had the girls out at Grandpa/ma's. Yeah for me. Sit and knit in my cozy couch.
I am looking forward to seeing the stole revealing it's self. The bead are fantastic.
See you soon. Kathleen
Oh, nice combination of yarn and beads!
Lovely! Hope the mohair Gods continue to be kind.
I really think it's beautiful so far! Good luck all the way through.
Very pretty! Size 7 needles! there is an idea!
It looks great. I love the color of the beads. I would much rather knit a shawl on 7's than 3's any day.
Looking good! Those purple beads are going to look gorgeous with the black mohair.
What a beautiful combo, that mohair looks amazing in that pattern! What yarn is it?
Gorgeous! I don't have time to look through all the posts and pics on MS3 so this is the first black one I've looked at I think. Lovely, and I don't think the mohair is an issue at all.
Waah! I'm still waiting to get started since I haven't tracked down a crochet hook small enough for placing the beads! :( Yours is looking great, though. :)
It's looking beautiful!
Congrats on taming the mohair. My guess is it will be so happy to be knit up so beautifully with such lovely beads that it will surely continue to cooperate.
Beautiful in mohair!! I may regret not using beads! (I really like the pace of this KAL - perfect speed for me)
So pretty!
Those beads are really going to pop against the black.
I can't wait to see the beads on it.
Sigh! It's gorgeous.
And Taunya got to play with you guys again.
Beautiful!!
I love it in the mohair.
Oooh, I'm liking the look of that mystery shawl already! Love the plum beads too.
Simply divine! Can't wait to see it finished.
It looks great! The beads are wonderful!
Great + Wonderful= Stunning
The Grinny Possum is only one block away from Art and Soul Beads.
Love the color and bead choice! Asolutely beautiful! I want to start the shawl myself. I have the beads and the yarn and I don't know what is stopping me. I must be crazy!
Ooooh--Love the purple beads!
It's coming out beautiful.
I love those beads! They're just the kind that I love for myself. I, sadly, missed the sign-ups for Mystery Stole, but I look forward to them developing all over the blogsphere!
beauty, beauty, beauty, Romi! What a great tip on the mohair, too.
OH MY GOD! It is so beautiful! You put me to shame! I just spent an hour trying to do row 67. As always you prove that you are a VERY talented woman. (I'm very jealous!)

Delicious combination. And I deeply respect the mohair.
