Hmm. I like the idea of her being Euterpe or Erato for the lyrical side. The cables remind me of birds.
I am dying to see what Calliope (Cally-ope, if we're talking NOLA streets) will look like, though...
The shapes in the edging and insertion make me think of a lyre, so I'm going to guess Terpsichore.
My guess is that it's Erato.
Erato because it's February !!
Linda (kalamarose)
How about Thalia?
BellyLaugher on Rav
I think Erato, as well. I agree that it seems rather lyrical.
Definitely Calliope.
Polyhymnia
Hmmmm. I think she is GORGEOUS....but that's not a muse! So I think it is Euterpe because she is the "giver of delight"!!!
Terpsichore, she looks like a Terpsichore. And she is beautiful, I can't wait til you release her to us!
That lovely shawl looks like a Thalia to me..Femeinine, pretty...I love it...Ruth G.
I'll guess Polyhymnia. As I recall, this Muse has been the subject of serious reworking... Scifiknitter on Rav
Terpsichore, I think! It just fits!
Peregrineknit
I'm going to guess Terpsichore!
I want to say Polyhymnia. The cables down the back remind me of the interweaving of the lines of the early polyphonic melodies. The lace is the embellishment that was added later.
Karen (aka Techmuse)
I say Euterpe with the central cable motif representing a flute.
I'm going to go with polyhymnia, sacred poetry.
She is truly lovely. I say her name is Terpsichore. See you in a few weeks at Stitches West!
Calliope!!! (I really don't have a thought process on this, it's just my favorite Muse name)
Oh My! Soooo beautiful! My guess is Erato because it feels poetic! Cannot WAIT to knit this. Thank you!!
Another vote for Erato from me. (That colour!)
I think Thalia fits her. Beautiful!
Juliaknit on Ravelry
I'm going to guess Erato because she's sometimes shown holding a lyre, which the central cable and edge motifs look like to me. Plus she's the muse of love poetry - it is February and the shawl is a Valentine's color.
I see Calliope. I love this shawl and I'm looking forward to it.
I think it will be Terpsichore because she is the muse of dance and this shawl is graceful. The cables look like a pirouetting ballerina. The beautiful pink color lead one to think of gorgeous ball gown on an enchantingly dancing beautiful woman.
From Neerlypurls on Ravelry.
I think it will be Terpsichore because it is elegant and graceful like a pirouetting ballerina. The pink color reminds me of a ball gown on an enchantingly beautiful woman dancing the nigh away.
I'm going to guess Euterpe. This shawl just sings to me!
Erato, being February and all!
There are six Calliope patterns on Ravelry; there are three Thalias and one Terpsichore. Erato is too much like errata, which makes me think I'd be making and fixing mistakes. I'm going with Euterpe. Whatever it is named, it's beautiful.
I'm going to say Calliope as well, because the cable up the back reminds me of a carousel horse's post, and Calliope reminds me of Carousel! (Convoluted, yes?)
Erato.
I agree with the same reasons that the previous poster mentioned.
Love Poetry... Valentine's Day.... the color also notes V-Day and the Lyre (basis for modern day harp) for the lovely music played in the background while one reads one's love the poetry she's written him. The poetry that she wrote enfolded in the shawl that echoed the love she feels wrapped in whenever her Beloved looks at her.
I think her name is Euterpe.
--MistySnow on Rav
Polyhymnia, Muse of Eloquence...lovely!
I like Erato, she is lovely as all previous.
gem
Hard to pick, but I think Polyhymnia. Something about it says hymns, refined and beautiful.
Erato- love poetry- perfect for the month of february.
I going to guess, and just a guess that it wil be Euterpe.
I'm going to guess Erato. Can't wait for the pattern to come out!
Erato, because the cables look like lyres (lyri?)...
Ba
I like Sappho or "Tenth Muse". This one just strikes me that way. jamielynk on Rav
I'll guess Terpsichore. :)
- siamjade
I'm thinking Euterpe because Her name means "rejoicing well" or "delight" Pink ... and the cables look like twining tunes. Rav mygrammadid
I would also say Erato, looking lyrical.
I guess Erato, since it's February and all.
litfoh on Rav.
I'm thinking Ersto for love poetry ;)
I guess Erato
I think is got to be Erato because the cables remind me of the Cithara or lyre's that you seen in Greek art.
It would also be a nice link in to February to have the goddess of love poetry featured.
Melanie (melarno)
I'm thinking Euterpe.
I'm guessing Calliope.
Erato. Love the design and color of this shawl.
I would guess Erato also.
I think I'm guessing for Terpsichore for this one. Looks really lovely!!
Erato is just perfect for this beautiful new shawl.
It looks like a Terpsichore to me! She looks strong enough to rule over dance.
It looks like Terpsichore to me. She appears strong enough to rule over dance.
I like Erato myself...
My guess is Erato.
She's beautiful. I can't wait to knit her up.
I guess Calliope.
Erato...the muse of love and lyric poetry
jwallace on rav
Terpsichore I think. PinkLemon on Ravelry.
she will always be muse #2 to me.
I don't know why, but my gut says it is Urania.
I think Erato, the braid down the middle makes me think of the wreath she wears around her head. Also she is the muse of poetry and what better month for poetry than February. I can't wait for this pattern to be released.
Polyhymnia, because the cable kind of looks like a stalk of wheat.
I'm on the Erato side too.
ERATO get my vote!
I'm guessing Polyhymnia. The muse is beautiful, whatever her name!
February, Love, color: I think Erato as well. Lovely nonetheless!
I so like Thalia.
Thalia.
Terpsichore because of the Lyre-like shapes
Euterpe, because she is next on the list.. haha.
I'm going with Euterpr.
iam going to guess Calliope meaning epic poetry she just looks like poetry from awesome connie on RAV
my pick is Calliope the muse of epic poetry
Just beautiful! I think she is Erato the muse of love poetry. It is almost Valentine's Day!
I will go for Thalia too
I think Thalia.
I tell Erato <3
Terpsichore because the cables make me thing of the intertwining movement of a dance.
I think Terpsichore because the cables remind me of little lyres. Just lovely.
My guess is Erato. Very nice shawl!
I'm Purlgirl93 on Ravelry.
I vote for ... awww, man! so hard to decide.... I see lutes and lyres...
I pick Terpsichore and I see dancing in the cables down the back along with the lyres.
So hard to pick a name for such a gorgeous shawl. ^_^
Tbloomn1 (Rav)
Thalia. She is the muse of geometry and grace. The spine of this shawl is representative of both.
Absolutely beautiful! She looks like Erato to me.
I am going to say Erato. It is beautiful.
I'll join the chorus for Erato, as the cable on the back does look like a lyre to me...
Love the name and I always love reading what you write about why you chose the name and the meaning behind it. ♥
