Creative Title Here

Yes, that's just how brain dead I am today! I cannot think, so insert your own title. ;)

In fact, I think I'll have a little contest. Leave a clever title for this post in the comments section (no emails!) and I'll enter you to win a...something. How about a nice heart penannular? Like this one?

Leave your title in the comments by midnight PST on Thursday March 13, 2008. Impress my husband and kids and win a Designs by Romi shawl pin! (hint: we all like puns and wordplay - ok, I do, but they put up with me, and maybe they even like it a little now too).

So...last Saturday I knit a couple of hats from my first handspun. Whadaya think of that?! My elder son thinks it's so cool that he brags about me. Is he a keeper or what?! And the smaller version (for whose birthday one of the hats was made) was suitably ecstatic to receive said hat. My kids are great. :)

So here we are, hats for me and son:

another view:

and another.

Nothing thrilling - a very simple pattern with a roll for me and a little ribbing for the little one, but we like 'em nonetheless. :) Next up: matching hats for elder son and Dad.

  1. Ummmmm. Hmmmmmm. (wrinkling forehead trying to squeeze something out of my brain). Nope. I got nothing.

The hats are great! I am impressed. Warm heads and warm hearts.

  2. You know, sometimes when creating something was easy, we say, it had just come off the needle. And with your new enthusiasm for spinning, these hats seem to have "come off the spindle", so that's my suggestion for the title :)

  3. "Have a heart. Or a hat." That's the best I can do, before breakfast, before chocolate.

  4. Not so clever title but Oh how I Love. That. Pin.

    "Win Romi's Heart."

  5. I like to mush words together to make up new words. So far, OED has not contacted me about these words, but here's one just for this post:

    Spunknatty

    Get it? Spun knit hat?

    Or maybe Spunknatty-do for deux?

    I'll stop.

Since I have politics on the brain, how about: "Tossing Some Hats Into the Ring" as a title?

How about "In Which Nearly Constant Spinning Has Left Me Dain Bread"

    Love the hats--they're beautiful!

  10. Of Handspun and Heads: A Romance.

It's silly, but hey. I really like the hats! I can see why the kids like them so much.

  11. Unchain my Heart? Does that work? Tell ya what...I will get the Angora goats, we can dye the fiber together, you spin and then teach me, and then I will make soup while you knit hats? Does that sound like a plan?

    Hats for the Heart
    or
Hats from my Heart - your handspun making hats for the whole family (your heart).

Cute hats! It is the perfect use for lovely handspun.

Yeah, I got nothing, but I do think you're doing a great job with the spinning. I'm so impressed that you're already knitting with your own handspun. So cool!

  14. The hats are AWESOME. Your son certainly is a worthy recipient of such a hat.

Knowing how immensely proud I was of my first handspun yarns (which I have yet to use for anything), I can't even imagine how proud I would be of a FO made *from* said handspun!!

I am resisting. Spinning is one more hobby I haven't got time for, but oh the yarn is so lovely.

    Was it fun to knit?

First I thought of "How to Win My Heart", but Sophanne sort of already did that. Then I thought of "Of Hearts and Hats", but then others came up with similar titles. So now all I have left is "Stuff I Made with my Handspun".

"Cold head + handspun hat= warm heart"

I am glad to see you knitting your handspun. I know several spinners that seem to horde the handspun and never knit it up.

  20. Nothing thrilling??? Very thrilling! You have taken to spinning like a duck to water. I love your hats, and I love the fact that your son is so proud of you. Beautifully done.

The pins are getting more beautiful all of the time. Brenda Patipa used her heart all weekend on the new red garment in the booth at Stitches and people were bugging me about where you were! We got pictures and will link to your site from the sweater kit. :o)

I love that you are finally spinning. Angela is relentless, I see. While I do not like spindle spinning, wheel spinning is the most soothing thing on the planet. Great job. :o)

I'm no good at this, but I can't get the Paul Simon lyric out of my head "Spinning Toward Infinity...And Maybe A Couple of Hats," though Mr. Simon had nothing to say about the hats, of course. ;-) Gorgeous work, Rosemary - I love the color and the spinning is wonderful. What lucky kids! Sam

    "I Heart Handspun"?

I'm in complete agreement with you -- thinking up post titles is one of the hardest parts of blogging! And yet other folks always seem to have something snappy. I wonder what the secret is...

  36. What about for the next post with the winner?

    "Handspun Heads and
    Half-Open Hearts!

  39. "My Heart Belongs to You. Maybe."

Love the hats! Don't you feel great, having made both the yarn and the hats? (Well, having spun the yarn, anyway. The sheep might have had something to do with the making part.)

    Oh and, btw, definitely:
I Heart These Hats -- no wonder they brag! Nice spinning, lucky menfolk!
(I Heart Your Heart as well, but I expect that should be the title of the winner's post :)
