I must have it.
I absolutely must have it. But that means that there won't be any time for anything else while I am knitting every single project. It's a dilemma of serious proportions. My family may miss me. ;)
Well with 18 projects to knit you'll be busy for a LONG time.

I wanted this book too until I took a look at it. It is beautiful and the pieces are amazing but I would never wear them.
ReplyDeleteIt shows very traditionally styled kimonos. It might make a nice night gown, but I guess that is all my opinion
I saw this today too. The unconstruction of the styles looks very interesting.

ReplyDeleteI saw it twice today, on KnitDad's blog and Knitting Daily. I like some of the projects, and would love to have this book too, but I'm going to restrain myself. It's just rediculous, wonderful knitting books popping up left and right. Sigh. ;o)
ReplyDeleteI've seen it in person, and I was unimpressed. Every project is pretty much just a variation of one wide rectangle and two narrow rectangles, with or without rectangular dropped sleeves. Looking at the pictures, I think any of them would be simple to make without any pattern at all.
ReplyDeleteI'm going to adapt the basic pattern to cut down on sewing. Anything i can make in the round is great. Anything else, I don't make.
ReplyDeleteI would like this book too, but from the pictures I have seen I'm not sure I'll knit anything from it. But one need knitting books just for looking too.

Those kimonos look very easy to knit; might be quick, too. I agree, too many patterns, too little time.

The discussion of kimono construction and the brief history of the kimono in the front are worth the purchase alone. There are at least 3 pieces I would consider knitting for myself. It's a beautiful book.
