I just could no longer stand to look at this horrible mess of uneven stitches:
even though I know a lot of it would block out. I just wasn't enjoying knitting it.

Now why, I ask myself, when I am an absolute mo-ho and kidsilk haze addict, would I take a perfectly good KSH pattern and use alpaca?! Yeah. It completely escapes me, too. So I am going to use this instead:
Now that's what I call recreational knitting. :)
The alpaca, which really is beautiful (now that it is completely ripped out!), is going to be recycled into a new stole design. It's gonna be purdy.
There is something about Rowan yarns that inspire happy faces!

ReplyDeleteIt's a beautiful pattern and it will be lovely on you. I like KSH but for whatever reason, I sort of 'save' it and try other stuff instead. Silly, I know.

ReplyDeleteI always think it's the sign of a good knitter if one can make the decision to rip things out when they aren't going as planned....isn't that the beauty of it....we can change our minds and (mostly) reuse the yarn!

I figure that the knitting process is supposed to be fun and relaxing for me. If it's not, then I change whatever I need to, to make it so. I'm so envious that you can even touch the KSH. As much as I appreciate the eye candy of it, even looking at it makes me 'crawly'!
ReplyDeleteRipping is good for the soul...oh who am I kidding, it is just plain annoying. But the Rowan yarn is too pretty to ignore.

ReplyDeleteI'm in the frog pond with you. Had to rip out almost a quarter of a sweater, AND pick up over 300 stitches. It's ok, I'm getting over it.
ReplyDeleteI am a firm believer in visiting the frog pond if I don't like what is coming off my needles. If you're not enjoying it or don't like the results, why continue?

I always feel better after I frog a project that's just not working for me. It's like a little re-birth. Both of those yarns are gorgeous, and the alpaca will make a lovely finished object, once it finds its true calling.
ReplyDeleteKnitting is a hobby -- not getting serum to the troops! Rip it, baby, and don't look back! It will be MUCH nicer in the KSH ;)!

I had my eye on that pattern too and was thinking of making it with the Brooks Farm primero (mohair) from my stash...hmmm. I'm sure you'll love it in the KSH.
ReplyDeleteI like the KSH MUCH better - I prefer the more subtle blue for this pattern. The fact that I'm horriblly allergic to alpaca has no bearing on my opinion :)
