The bead shot:

Since I am using US 7 needles, my stole when gently blocked is about 23 inches in width.
And late, as always, to the party, I will now extol the virtues of The Grumpy One. While helping Susan with her Odessa, I became so completely hooked that I had to knit one myself. Since it is to be used as a chemo cap, I made it half an inch deeper. It was knit in a mystery yarn that I am pretty sure is Lavold Silky Wool. And here, because I couldn't resist this adorable little face, is Dr. Destructo modeling the finished cap.

Later, I added an i-cord with beads threaded through the bottom row of yarn overs.

Without the beads on the crown, it just needed something, you know what I mean? Plus, the silk content of the yarn made me wonder if it would hold any kind of shape at all.
Thank you, Kathy, for a great and addictive pattern!
Oh my!!!! That is really beautiful. I love the contrast of the beads. You have excellent taste!!!!
ReplyDeleteThe beads are a great complement to a gorgeous stole!
ReplyDeleteDr. D is an adorable model. The hat is wonderful! I really like your beaded i-cord addition. Great idea. Your MS3 is coming along so well.
ReplyDeleteThat is a great hat pattern! The stole is coming out great...
ReplyDeleteHow is the book coming along?
Oh my, you are SO not helping my want-to-do list. I like my pale blue MS3, but yours is drop-dead gorgeous.
ReplyDeleteI love the hat, and the model is very cute. He must be good at hiding his alter ego, Dr. D. :-)
Beautiful Odessa, and I agree about the adorable little face! Way too cute!
ReplyDeleteGreat job on the projects. You make things look so simple to do! I am envious.
ReplyDeleteKathleen
Gorgeous! I love the beads against the mohair. And I'm really liking the MS3 pics I'm seeing with dark yarn. It looks great.
ReplyDeleteDr. Destructo is adorable!
Rosemary- I come over here to get my bead fix-
ReplyDeletethey make the world a happier place, don't you agree?
I'm impressed with how quickly your shawl is coming along. The beads just make it divine.
ReplyDeleteAnd the cap is so cute! So is the model, lol.
The stole is gorgeous -- were you expecting a stole or a shawl? Is that part of the surprise? I may need to make one of those hats, too -- it's great!
ReplyDeleteMy hats off to you Rosemary!
ReplyDeleteQuite amazing and beautimus ;)
Dr Destructo is so cute! I love how your mystery stole is coming along, and Grumpy's hat is very very cool.
ReplyDeleteYou're not as late to the party as me - I havent' knitted an Odessa yet, although I've wanted to (and probably should have started one last night, while watching Everything is Illuminated...set in Odessa).
ReplyDeleteThe stole looks fab. After I take the chart-reading class at Stitches East, I hope not to be intimidated by something like that.
Very nice! The stole is coming along *gorgeously*, and the Odessa... I hadn't been intrigued with it before but this version in the Lavold (I agree... it sure looks like it) with the beads and I cord detail... stunning.
ReplyDeleteYour MS3 is gorgeous. I like the beads too. Now, this is the KSH you are using, right? I looks wonderful. I am just collection clues. Haven't done a thing on it yet.
ReplyDeleteOf course, little Dr. D has stolen the show once again. What a grin. He is so danged cute and full of the dickens, hard for lace to compete. He ought to be a movie star.
yay! i too have been craving that particular knit. yours is beautiful! am also loving the mystery stole, can't wait to see the fo!
ReplyDeleteIt is gorgeous in black mohair!! and the beads are perfect!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful lace! Such a pretty little hat and adorable little face.
ReplyDeleteWonderful work! And That hat looks fantastic in Silky Wool but then again what doesnt right!
ReplyDeleteCheers!
PS Great Hair and the 80's rule!! haha
Very pretty!
ReplyDeleteI'm thinking black is definitely a great color for the mystery stole 3. Wow! And those are the perfect beads, too. Makes me wish I knew how to knit lace!
ReplyDeleteSuch a face on Dr. Destructo!!
ReplyDeleteYour stole is a beauty...
Such an adorable hat model!
ReplyDeleteWell, that's just the cutest model I ever saw!
ReplyDeleteLovely cap, even without beads, and the model has beautiful eyes.
ReplyDeleteThe hat is great, but Dr. D. has got to be the cutest child on the face of the earth!
ReplyDeleteYour stole looks beautiful!!
ReplyDeleteOoh everything is so beautiful. I'm terribly intrigued by the silver yarn on rosewood. Any hints you could send my way?
ReplyDeleteI'm terribly envious of your shawl. I've only just picked a yarn (I think) and I still have to pick from bead possiblities. I'm so far behind I'll never catch up.
The stole is shaping up quite well!
ReplyDeleteI like your addition to the hat.
